Please join us in amazing Nicaragua for a week of nature, community service, theatre, culture and fun! March 13-20, 2011
The trip consists of four parts:
1. Nature and city sightseeing.
2. Cultural and theatrical interaction with the local Indigenous communities (music, ceremonies, meals, etc.)
3. Community service.
4. Physical and "fun"-type activities.
During our trip we will hike the volcanos and swim in the craters, visit the arts villages in the mountains and the natural reserves where the indigenous communities live. Students will be encouraged to create and facilitate community educational workshops using Boal's Theatre of the Oppressed to meaningfully engage with indigenous populations about their relationships to the Nicaraguan government, industrialism, and encroachment on their land and way of life.
All the region of Central America is magnificent. The communities and environment are filled with history and meaning, with old sites of the highest importance, incredible nature sites and multiple communities of Indigenous folks where we will not just hike and interact, but also do community service work.
The trip will be all-inclusive. The price will include international round trip air fare from NYC to Managua and back, domestic ground transportation inside Nicaragua, all the daily meals, accommodations in hotels on the basis of 2 or 3 per room, all rooms with private bathrooms, all transfers by bus and other modes of transportation inside the country, all cultural, touring, and community service activities.
The cost will be $1,877.00 per person all included.
